In 2005, Manjula and Tina decided to create Nirvana Indian Art. Their intent was clear -
- Give Indians (local and abroad) access to 'Affordable' Indian art which was aesthetically pleasing and provided longer term returns on investment
- Grow the awareness and access to Indian art internationally beyond the auction houses and established galleries
- Promote and mentor emerging and recently established artist by providing them access to a wider segment of the market
They settled on a business model which was simple and focussed on -
Introduction to the 'women' behind Nirvana -
Tina McGonagill Singh:
Tina holds a Masters of Philosophy in the History of Art and Connoisseurship from Christie's London and has worked as a private art consultant/ curator in Los Angeles, New York and London before moving to India.
Her experience includes; managing galleries, curating numerous exhibitions, assisting clients to sell their existing collections in the secondary market, work with private collectors and corporations who want to build art collections. In her 10+ years of working in the art world, Tina has placed significant works of art from ancient artifacts to contemporary painting in private collections throughout the United States and Europe.
Tina's love and appreciation of Indian Art grew from her many trips to India in recent years. Initially sourcing Indian art for international buyers, Tina has now fully submerged herself into the Indian art scene, and along with her partner has developed Nirvana into a thriving and exciting business.
Manjula Singh
Born into a family of collectors, Manjula Singh grew up surrounded by art. Over time she has developed a keen eye for fine art and has strong relationships with many of today's established artists.
Her personal art collection is as diverse as her career. After making her mark in the fashion world, she has now devoted herself full-time to her first love: Manjula serves to promote and nourish the career of an artist. She believes that there are many talented artists who lack the skills to develop themselves professionally, and that their time is better spent cultivating their craft.
Manjula states that the voice of an artist is expressed through his art, and it is the responsibility of an audience to listen to what that voice is saying. "The thumbprint of every generation can be defined by the art it leaves behind" Manjula is devoted to supporting the arts and believes that wether it is music, dance, theatre or fine art, it belongs to the people, and everyone should be able to enjoy such pleasures.
As both Tina and Manjula say 'Enjoy Art, experience Nirvana'......
Enjoy art, experience nirvana...
